[Report] Dr. Oishi business trip to Cameroon
In March 2024, faculty member Dr. Takanori Oishi travelled to Cameroon, where a student exchange programme will start soon, based on an inter-university agreement signed between the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) and the University of Yaoundé I (UY1) in May 2023. To prepare and launch the programme, a briefing session on the exchange programme was held on March 12th in the classroom of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Yaoundé I. In addition, graduate student Ms. Saori Yamamoto, who had been in Cameroon under IAfp programme, gave a presentation on her field research and research plan. A lively Q&A session has occured with more than 40 participants, ranging from senior undergraduate students to master’s students, as well as faculty and staffs. In addition to exchanges with faculty and students of UY1, Dr. Oishi also visited the Embassy of Japan in Cameroon and the JICA Cameroon Office for information exchange.

Photos 4 & 5: During the briefing, video messages were also shown from Mr. Jato Emmanuel, who is from Cameroon and has experience as an exchange student at TUFS from PIASS, the partner school in Rwanda, and Ms. Ayaka Saeki, who will be sent to UY1 as an exchange student from October.
