ELC points are awarded for these activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are enrolled in GLIP English Course A, the points earned will be reflected in your grades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-medium-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-medium-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligible Students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students enrolled in GLIP English courses \u201cEnglish A1\u2013A4\u201d (including second-year or above students and repeaters)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First-year students majoring in English (regardless of GLIP enrollment, as the completion of ELC assignments is mandatory to advance to the second year) &#8211; However, <strong>students majoring in the Africa and Oceania areas in the School of International and Area Studies are not eligible<\/strong>. Nevertheless, if they enroll in &#8216;English A1\u2013A4,&#8217; they are required to complete the ELC assignments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transfer students and exchange students are not eligible<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-medium-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-medium-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grade Reflection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. ELC Points<\/strong><br>ELC points account for 10% of the course grade for the GLIP English courses &#8216;English A1\u2013A4&#8217; (10% each for the spring and fall semesters).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. TOEIC-IP Test (for the first-year students)<\/strong><br>Based on the combined score of the Listening &amp; Reading [LR] test and Speaking &amp; Writing [SW] test, ELC points are awarded as follows. The awarded points count for 10% of the fall semester grade (20% combined with assignment points):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">1100 or higher \u2192 10 points<br>1000-1099 \u2192 9 points<br>900-999 \u2192 8 points<br>800-899 \u2192 7 points <br>700-799 \u2192 6 points<br>600-699 \u2192 5 points<br>500-599 \u2192 4 points<br>499 or below \u2192 3 points<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students with incorrect student ID registration will not be awarded any points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Taking both the LR and SW tests is mandatory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For information on taking the TOEIC-IP test, carefully read the <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.tufs.ac.jp\/elc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/03\/7dfdf232eb7e7c64949bce4ed5b16747.pdf\">2026 ELC User Guide<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since <strong>second-year students and above<\/strong> are not eligible to take the TOEIC-IP test, the points reflected in the fall semester grades for &#8216;English A1\u2013A4&#8217; will be calculated <strong>by doubling the ELC points<\/strong> (for example, if a student earns 9 ELC points, 18 points will be reported to the instructor and will account for 20% of the course grade).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-medium-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-medium-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advancement to the Second Year<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First-year English majors (excluding Africa &amp; Oceania Studies) must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Earn at least 10 points in both spring and fall semesters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take both TOEIC-IP LR and SW tests on October<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-medium-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-medium-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ELC Point Award Periods (2026)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring Semester:<\/strong> April 13 \u2013 July 10 (deadline 23:00)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fall Semester:<\/strong> October 5 \u2013 December 23 (deadline 23:00)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ELC points are calculated after the deadline and reported to the course instructors. each semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a student is enrolled in multiple English A courses, the same point will be reported to each course instructor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No points will be awarded after the deadline. <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Points cannot be carried over to the subsequent semesters or academic year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-medium-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-medium-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Notes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Earn at least <strong>1 point from a Speaking Session or ELC Seminar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If no points are earned from Speaking Sessions or ELC Seminars, <strong>all other points will become invalid<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Participation alone is insufficient to earn points<\/strong>. You must submit an essay\/self-evaluation by the deadline. If submissions are incomplete, resubmission is required (For any difficulties, please check the &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.tufs.ac.jp\/elc\/en\/tufs-elc-top\/rules\/essay\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1388\">Submission Rules<\/a>&#8216;.) Feedback is provided via Moodle for Open Education (MOE).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Being more than 5 minutes late counts as absence (no points will be awarded)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unexcused absences result in point deductions from the second occurrence<\/strong>. If you are unable to attend, be sure to cancel in advance (please refer to &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.tufs.ac.jp\/elc\/en\/tufs-elc-top\/rules\/reservation\/#How_to_Cancel\">Reservation and Participation Rules<\/a>&#8216; for cancellation procedures).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Earn <strong>at least 10 points per semester<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-medium-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-medium-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Available Programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.tufs.ac.jp\/elc\/en\/tufs-elc-top\/programs\/speaking-session\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1308\">Speaking Session<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After participating, you will receive <strong>1 point<\/strong> upon submitting a 100\u2013150 word essay and having it approved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there are any issues with your submission, <strong>you will be required to resubmit<\/strong> <strong>your essay<\/strong>. You will be notified via Moodle for Open Education (MOE) feedback comments whether your points have been approved or whether resubmission is necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can earn up to 1 point per week for each session type (Regular \/ Academic \/ Business \/ Casual \/ Discussion). This means that you can earn a maximum of 5 points per week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free Talk sessions are not eligible for points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.tufs.ac.jp\/elc\/en\/tufs-elc-top\/programs\/program\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2158\">ELC Seminar<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After participating, you will be awarded <strong>1 point<\/strong> upon submitting a 100\u2013150 word essay and having it approved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there are any issues with your submission, <strong>you will be required to resubmit your essay<\/strong>. You will be notified via Moodle for Open Education (MOE) feedback comments whether your points have been approved or whether resubmission is necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/moe.tufs.ac.jp\/course\/view.php?id=2907\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/moe.tufs.ac.jp\/course\/view.php?id=2907\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vocabulary Test<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will be awarded <strong>1 point<\/strong> by taking the vocabulary test on Moodle for Open Education (MOE) and achieving a perfect score of 30 out of 30. If you answer any questions incorrectly, please retake the test until you achieve a perfect score.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even if you take both B1 and B2 level tests in the same week, you can earn <strong>only 1 point<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note that ELC will not notify you of point approval for the Vocabulary Test, so you are responsible for keeping track of your own points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/moe.tufs.ac.jp\/course\/view.php?id=2908\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/moe.tufs.ac.jp\/course\/view.php?id=2908\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Recording Task<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You are required to record your own speech in response to a task on Moodle for Open Education (MOE) and submit it. You will be awarded <strong>1 point<\/strong> once it is approved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there are any issues with your submission, <strong>you will be required to resubmit your speech<\/strong>. You will be notified via MOE feedback comments whether your points have been approved or whether resubmission is necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The content is linked to the Speaking Sessions; however, you are allowed to submit your speech even if you do not participate in a session.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/atr-call.tufs.ac.jp\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/atr-call.tufs.ac.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ATR CALL BRIX<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access the site and complete 20 BRIX (<em>\u91d1\u3068\u9280\u306e\u5408\u8a08<\/em>  [combined total of Gold and Silver]) in <em>TOEFL\u7a76\u6975\u5358\u8a9e5000\u4e00\u822c\u8a9e\u5f59\u30fb\u5b66\u8853\u8a9e\u5f59<\/em> (TOEFL Ultimate Vocabulary 5000: General and Academic Words) to earn <strong>1 point<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The number in the &#8216;Gold and Silver Total&#8217; column accumulates across semesters, so for the fall semester, please subtract the number of BRIX completed in the spring semester when counting your earned points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note that ELC will not notify you of point approval for ATR CALL BRIX, so you are responsible for keeping track of your own points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*If you have any further questions, please refer to the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.tufs.ac.jp\/elc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/03\/7dfdf232eb7e7c64949bce4ed5b16747.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"3832\">2026 ELC User Guide<\/a>&#8221; &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.tufs.ac.jp\/elc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/03\/82275ee32d6752326f56a8f459b917cf.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"3833\">ELC Learning Assignments (Including TOEIC-IP) and Grade Reflection<\/a>,&#8221; and the <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.tufs.ac.jp\/elc\/en\/tufs-elc-top\/qa\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1360\">FAQ<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-medium-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-medium-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to check the number of points you have earned<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> <strong>ELC does not respond to individual inquiries<\/strong> regarding the current number of points earned. You are responsible for managing your own points. You can check the points earned for Moodle for Open Education (MOE) tasks directly on MOE  platform. For other programs, you must track your progress yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.
