Q2. How can I search the collection of the English Library?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> The book list (PDF) is available on the Facilities & Library<\/a> (under “English Library” section). Here’s how to search:

About Registration Application for ELC Use<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Q1. How do I submit the ELC registration application?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Please refer to How to Use<\/a> (under “Before Using the ELC” section), watch the ELC guidance video, and then submit the form via Moodle for Open Education (MOE) course titled “English Learning Center Registration Application<\/a>.”<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q2. I forgot to apply for ELC registration. Will the points I earned before registration be invalid?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Don’t worry\u2014points earned before registration will not be invalid. However, please apply for registration as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q3. I have applied for registration in the spring semester. Is an application also required for the autumn semester?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> If you have registered in the spring, you do not need to apply again in the autumn semester.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q1. How do I make a reservation?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

Q2. What do the abbreviations like “RS(B1)”, “AS”, and “WSD” on the TUFS ELC Online Reservation Site mean?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> These are abbreviations for different types of sessions. For their meanings, refer to Reservation and Participation Rules<\/a> (under “Abbreviations on the Reservation Site” section).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q3. How do I cancel a reservation?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Please refer to “How to Cancel” in Reservation and Participation Rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q4. How can I check if my reservation has been confirmed?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Once your reservation is complete, you will receive a confirmation email with the subject line\u300c\u3007\u3007\u69d8\u306e\u4e88\u7d04\u304c\u78ba\u5b9a\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u300d(“Your reservation has been confirmed, [Your Name].”) For more details, please refer to Reservation and Participation Rules<\/a> (under “Online Reservation Process” section).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q5. I haven’t received any follow-up communication after making a reservation.<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Possible reasons include the email being sorted into your spam folder, incorrect email address entered during reservation, or the reservation not being completed correctly. Check these possibilities and if you still haven\u2019t received the confirmation, please contact ELC<\/a>. For more information, refer to Reservation and Participation Rules<\/a> (under “Online Reservation Process” section).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

About Submissions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Q1. Where do I submit self-evaluation sheets and essays?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Please refer to Submission Rules<\/a> (under “Download Formats and Submission Instructions” section).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q2. How can I check the feedback on my MOE submission?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> When feedback is added in Moodle for Open Education (MOE), you will receive a notification to your TUFS email address. The email will contain a link to access the feedback. You can also open the SS box on MOE, scroll to the bottom, and check the feedback there.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

About ELC Assignments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Q1. How can I earn ELC points?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> You can earn points by participating in various ELC programs. For more details, refer to ELC Points<\/a>, 2025 ELC User Guide<\/a> and ELC Learning Assignments (Including TOEIC-IP) and Grade Reflection<\/a> (We are sorry to inform you that only the Japanese version is available for the documents).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q2. Is there a limit to the points I can earn?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> There is no limit to the points you can earn. However, only up to 10 points can be included in the GLIP course grade evaluation.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q3. Do I need to attend both Speaking Session and ELC Seminar for my other points to be valid?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> It\u2019s not mandatory to attend both. As long as you attend at least one session (either Speaking Session or ELC Seminar), submit Essay and Self-Assessment Sheet, and they are approved, you will earn points. If you don\u2019t attend either, points earned from other activities will be invalid.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q4. Can I earn points for Free Talk or Writing Support Desk?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> No, points cannot be earned for Free Talk<\/a> or Writing Support Desk<\/a>. These are not eligible for ELC points.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q5. How are points earned from ATR CALL BRIX counted?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> You can earn 1 point for completing 20 blocks (BRIX), so the “\u91d1\u3068\u9280\u306e\u5408\u8a08 (total of gold and silver BRIX completed)” will be 1 point for “20”, 2 points for “40”, and so on. However, the number in the “\u91d1\u3068\u9280\u306e\u5408\u8a08 (total of gold and silver BRIX completed)” column accumulates across semesters, so for the fall semester, please subtract the number of BRIX completed in the spring semester from this total. For more details, please refer to ELC Points<\/a> and 2025 ELC User Guide<\/a> (p.9).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q6. What if I took both B1 and B2 Vocabulary Tests in the same week? Will I earn 2 points?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> No, even if the Vocabulary Test site shows “2 points,” you can only earn 1 point.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q7. I scored B2 level on the TOEIC, but took the B1 Vocabulary Test and got full marks. Will I earn 1 point?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Yes, you will earn 1 point for taking the B1 test. Please use B1 (TOEIC score of 645 or below) and B2 (TOEIC score of 650 or above) as guidelines when approaching the task.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

About TOEIC-IP Test<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

How to Check Your TOEIC IP Test Scores<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Q1.I would like to check the exact date and score of the TOEIC IP test I took through the university.<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> You can check it on TUFS Record<\/a> which can be accessed via Moodle 2, not via Moodle for Open Education (MOE).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q2. I need to reissue my TOEIC score certificate. How can I do that?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> After checking the information on the TOEIC IP Test (Reissuance of TOEIC-IP Test Score Certificate)<\/a>, please prepare the necessary documents and contact IIBC. (A fee is required.)<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q3. Can ELC issue a TOEIC score certificate for registration purposes?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Although ELC does not issue this document, you can access TUFS Record<\/a> to download it. Please be aware that this document is not the official TOEIC score certificate issued by the IIBC.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

If you are unable to take the test<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Q1. I am studying abroad. Can I take the TOEIC IP test online from overseas?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A. <\/strong>Due to system limitations, it is not possible to take the test from overseas.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q2.<\/strong> I am currently on a leave of absence. Can I take the ELC-administered TOEIC IP test?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A. <\/strong>You cannot take the test while on a leave of absence. Please take the test after you return to school. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q3.<\/strong> Can graduate students take the test?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A. <\/strong>Graduate students are not eligible to take the test, as the test fee is not included in their tuition.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q4. How many times can a transfer student in the third year take the test?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> A transfer student in the third year can take the TOEIC IP test for Listening & Reading and Speaking & Writing once each during their time at the university.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q5. I am unable to take the test at the scheduled time. What should I do?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> Regardless of the reason, if you are unable to take the test at the scheduled time, you should take the next TOEIC IP test, which is scheduled for December. You cannot take the TOEIC IP test scheduled for March. Additionally, registration is required to take the test. The information will be provided through the \u5b66\u52d9\u60c5\u5831\u30b7\u30b9\u30c6\u30e0 between October and November, so please check and apply accordingly.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q6. I was unable to take the TOEIC IP Test due to unforeseen circumstances. I would like to cancel my registration. What should I do?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A. <\/strong>No cancellation procedure is required. However, after applying, please promptly delete the email<\/strong> from ELC that contains the test URL. If you access the URL by mistake, test fees may be incurred<\/strong>, so please be very careful.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the number of test attempts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Q1. What does the designated number of TOEIC IP Test attempts (three times for Listening & Reading and once for Speaking & Writing before graduation) mean?<\/strong><\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> The designated number of test attempts refers to the number of times you can take the TOEIC IP Test using the test fees that are included in the tuition you paid upon enrollment.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q2. I have already taken the designated number of TOEIC tests. Am I still allowed to apply for the TOEIC IP Test in December?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A.<\/strong> No, you are not. The number of TOEIC IP Tests you can take through the ELC is limited to the designated number of attempts.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q3. Is the designated number of TOEIC IP Test attempts (three times for Listening & Reading and once for Speaking & Writing before graduation) a graduation requirement?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A. <\/strong>No, it is not included as a graduation requirement.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Q4. Do I need to fulfill the designated number of test attempts through individually taken TOEIC tests, TOEIC IP Tests administered by prospective employers, or other on-campus TOEIC IP Tests?<\/strong><\/summary>\n

A. <\/strong>Tests taken individually are not counted<\/strong> toward the designated number of attempts (see Q1 above). In addition, since the designated number of attempts is not a graduation requirement<\/strong> (see Q3 above), there is no need to fulfill the designated number<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, we strongly recommend<\/strong> taking the TOEIC IP Tests administered by the ELC, as doing so helps you maintain your English proficiency, requires no additional test fees<\/strong>, and ensures that your test scores are reflected in your Diploma Supplement<\/strong> distributed upon graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that scores from individually taken tests can also be reflected in your Diploma Supplement by reporting them through TUFS Record<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Diploma Supplement is an important document that presents, in both English and Japanese, an objective record of your linguistic ability, specialized knowledge, and communication and performance skills at the time of graduation\u2014serving as a valuable tool for your future career development.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
