Workshop on “Central Europe Studies”
In cooperation with the Central European Area Studies, a workshop entitled “Dialogue under the Airstrikes: The War Recorded by the Internet” (NHK, 2001) was held for TUFS students.
Online Lecture “Nation Collapses”
An open lecture by Zoom was held with two lecturers from Kanda University of International Studies and The University of Tokyo.

The Third Cohort HIPS Students Enter TUFS
The third cohort of sixteen HIPS students from the EU has enrolled at TUFS. The classes for the HIPS program at TUFS will start in February.
Third Semester Classes Begin for Second Cohort Students and the First Semester Classes Begin for Third Cohort Students
The first semester classes have begun at CEU and the third semester classes have begun at NOVA and UniFI. From TUFS, the second cohort of two students arrived at UniFI and one student at NOVA, the third cohort of five students at CEU, and they have started their classes there.

Graduation Ceremony of First Cohort of HIPS Program
The graduation ceremony for the first cohort of HIPS students who started to attend the program from FY 2020 was held. Eight students in total completed their program, five of whom attended in-person and three online, and they were handed their program certificates. The graduation ceremony was attended by the President Kayoko Hayashi and related faculty and staff from TUFS and the consortium institutions, either in-person or online, to celebrate the completion of the program.
TUFS TopicsHIPS Student Conference
The Student Conference, an interim report session for master’s thesis of second cohort and a joint review of capstone projects of first cohort, was held. It was held in a high-flex, both online and in-person at TUFS, with presentations by students and reviews by faculty members from TUFS and the consortium institutions.
Online Briefing during Admission Guidance Fair for TUFS Graduate School
For those planning to enroll in TUFS graduate school, briefing on the program was held online during an admission guidance fair for TUFS graduate school. About 30 people attended the event.
Online International Symposium(CEU)“University and Humanitarian Crisis”
An International symposium titled “University and Humanitarian Crisis: How Academics Should Respond to Extreme Violence and Tragedy” was held online, inviting lecturers from inside and outside of the program.

Online Briefing and Individual Consultations
Online briefing for first-time participants and individual consultations were held for those planning to enroll in the graduate school in April 2022 and for those planning to take the special entrance examination for the Master’s Program (recommendation entrance examination) to be held in July 2022. The online individual consultations were held on additional dates due to popular demand.
Galicia Jewish Museum Photo Panel Exhibition and Related Events
A photo panel exhibition, “Rivka’s Diary: A Girl in the Lodz Ghetto,” featuring panels from the collection of the Galicia Jewish Museum (Poland), was held at the Galleria on the first floor of the lecture building at TUFS. In addition, a total of five open lectures on related topics were given by four professors, and a total of four film screenings of three films were held.
Release of application guidelines for FY 2022
The application guideline for FY 2022 have been released. The application period for the third cohort of HIPS program is from Monday, May 9, 2022 to Wednesday, May 11, 2022 14:00.

HIPS mini-lecture/briefing session【TUFS Study Abroad Fair 2021】
On Thursday, October 28, we participated in the “TUFS Study Abroad Fair 2021,” where the program coordinator gave an overview of the program and two TUFS faculty members gave a mini-lecture on “History in the Public Sphere” online.In addition, more detailed briefing sessions were held after the mini-lecture on Thursday, Oct. 28 and on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Graduate School Intensive Lectures “Practitioner Workshop“
From July 26 to 30, the Practitioner Workshop was held online as the graduate school’s intensive lectures offered by “History in the Public Sphere”. We invited practitioners who are involved in “history” as lecturers to think about “representing history”.
Interim report session on master’s thesis and capstone project for the first-year students at TUFS
The Student Conference, an interim report session for master’s thesis and capstone project hosted by TUFS, was held. Eleven first-year students gave presentations based on the papers they had submitted in advance, with one student and one faculty member serving as commentators for each presentation. For many of the students, this was their first opportunity to experience the reporting style of an international conference.

Open Zoom Seminar by NOVA University Lisbon and University of Florence
An Open Zoom Seminar was held by Professors Pedro Aires Oliveira and Pedro Cardim of NOVA University Lisbon and Researcher Chiara Renzo of University of Florence (UniFI).

Interim report session on master’s thesis and capstone project for the first-year students at CEU
The Prospectus Workshop, an interim report session for master’s theses and capstone project hosted by Central European University, was held. 11 first-year students presented their research outcomes for the first semester, and more than 20 faculty members from all participating consortium institutions attended.
Photo Exhibition “Traces of Memory: A Contemporary Look at the Jewish Past in Poland”
On the 1st Floor of the Research and Lecture Building of TUFS, the exhibition of photographic panels owned by the Galicia Jewish Museum (Poland) was held.
