The first in-person meeting in Dakar and visit to Medina Sabakh together

Two of the Japanese members, Prof. Nakayama and Dr. Kumashiro, guided by another Japanese member, Dr. Sene who lives in Dakar, visited Senegalese members at FASTEF, UCAD, on the 24th of December. This was the first in-person meeting of LMA members between Senegalese and Japanese sides, though a few Senegalese members could not attend owing to the day (of the Christmas Eve). All the participating members could have a good discussion. On the following day, almost all these members went to Medina Sabakh together to meet the people in Medina Sabakh and explain the starting of this joint research to them. Members were treated by a very nice ceremony, and hospitality of the people when they went around the district, mosques, a school, gathering places, etc. were just wonderful.

Dr. Kumashiro left a bit longer after other members went back, and made a preliminary research on the district, including her acquaintance with the leaders and members of women’s cooperative in Boumbane village.
