Visit of 2 Japanese members in Spring 2026

From the end of the fiscal year 2025, the 29th of March 2026 to the beginning of the fiscal year 2026, within the framework of J=PEAKS researches of UEC and TUFS respectively, Prof. Yokogawa and Nakayama visited Senegal: we had meetings with some of Senegalese members, and went to Medina Sabakh with Dr. Mme Diop and Dr. Sene. In Medina Sabakh, we planned to activate tablet devices of women there, but in many cases, they were already activated and used freely. Still. we could help some of them with activation or solving technical problems. There was a very nice meeting with many, many women, men and families in a warmly welcoming atmosphere: As a surprise, wonderful clothes were given and further, they gave a short presentation of traditional wedding ceremony there, in order to explain the role of women in their traditional culture./

It was very encouraging that some women told the Japanese delegation that this project is exactly what they wanted and needed.

After coming back to Dakar, we also had a meeting at the national agency of aquaculture, according to the recommendation of Dr. Diop, to start a combined practice of ecological agriculture with aquaculture as the social implemetation of decentralized electricity in Medina Sabakh. The responsible persons there showed a great interest in this idea and promised a cooperation. Again here, it was very encouraging that they appreciated our joint research as more than academic. /

Besides, Prof. Yokogawa started the first stage of implementation by setting up 4 Wi-Fi routers in 4 villages in Medina Sabakh for better communication among them and with us, as well as for their further activities to informing of their ideas and activities from the very heart of the Global South.
