this project is to promote Russo-Japanese economic activities in such fields as trade and finance, tourism and transportation, primary industry, manufacturing and IT, medical translation, news services, and cultural interaction. The project will seek to do this by fostering Russian and Japanese business talent through support of intercultural and economic interaction between Russians and Japanese, with a focus on fostering language skills, knowledge of Russia and Japan (particularly related to their economies), as well as on negotiation skills.
＜Overview＞
This project will be undertaken with the cooperation of six universities in Russia, namely Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Russian State University for the Humanities, the Higher School of Economics, Saint Petersburg State University, and Far Eastern Federal University. Together with TUFS, these universities will engage in intercultural programs in the fields of Russian relations, Russo-Japanese relations, and practical economic relations.
Furthermore, Professor Numano Kyoko of the TUFS Graduate School of Global Studies, who has been the main proponent of this project, has recommended that Special Professor Arai Shigeru be named project coordinator.

Short-term Exchange Program
TUFS and its partner universities in Russia will support reciprocal exchange programs for 1st and 2nd-year undergraduate students majoring in Japan-related or Russia-related fields, and in so doing strengthen their respective education programs.

Long-term exchange program
TUFS and its partner universities in Russia will support reciprocal exchange programs for 3rd-year undergraduate students majoring in Japan-related or Russia-related fields, and provide opportunities for said exchange students to engage in high-level study of Russian and Japanese economics, society, and culture.

Internship program
This project will also seek to provide participating students with opportunities to engage in internships. As a part of the internship program, participants will have the opportunity to attend a course on job-hunting (Jugyo Taiken), which will operate as part of the general education program, and from which students can earn two credits. Students will then have the opportunity to participate in a number of programs made available to them by the TUFS Russo-Japanese Business Network, which was established with the support of TUFS alumni association branches, including the Moscow branch.

By combining short-term and long-term internships, it is hoped that TUFS will contribute to fulfilling the goals of Item 8 of the Russo-Japanese Cooperation Plan, which stipulates expansion of intercultural exchanges between the two countries on multiple levels, by fostering talent in the fields of trade and finance, tourism and transportation, primary industry, manufacturing and IT, medical translation and interpretation, and news services.
Additionally, to better fulfill the aforementioned goals, TUFS has introduced a program outlining the specific criteria for success in the Russian program that students majoring in it should try to achieve. The program, termed RJI (Studies on Russia, Japan, and Internship) will serve to motivate students in the Russian program.<br
