On Friday, January 17, 2020, Ms. Mio Yanaka from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, who was studying abroad for a short period at the University of California, Irvine, a partner university of the TP-COIL project, visited the Nippon Foundation, the private largest grant-making foundation in Japan, in order to learn about the non-profit industry in Japan and studied about its activities. She learned that the the Nippon Foundation, as a private grant-making foundation, is engaged in work that contributes to areas that corporations and the government are not aware of or have not been able to deal with. She also learned that the Nippon Foundation contributes to the Japanese society by focusing on the fields of “children”, “disaster” and “disability”, among many other areas. This opportunity helped her with thinking about her future career.
