[TUFS]Online study tour in USA for students in Japan (2021. 02)
2021.06.10
In line with the theme of this project, we conducted participatory online study tours to learn about American culture and gender issues by listening to experts with online fieldtrips.
It was held twice: “Japanese Art from the U.S. Perspective” and “UN Women’s Approach to Gender Issues”. Students from three universities, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, International Christian University and Aoyama Gakuin University participated in the tours. These were carried out as extracurricular activities. A student who was scheduled to study in the U.S. in the year was involved as an assistant for this project.
In “Japanese Art from the U.S. Perspective” tour, students visited Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in NY online. Shinsuke Aso, who works there as a Japanese educator, introduced the influence of the Japanese art on the collection in the museum and the Japanese art exhibition there.
In “UN Women’s Approach to Gender Issues” tour, UN Women officers explained its approach to gender issues. Students participated actively by asking questions about their projects and careers.
